Edo PDP Urges Tinubu To Declare State Of Emergency

The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Edo following the mob killing of seven suspected kidnappers on Friday.

State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, strongly condemned the extrajudicial killings in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area, blaming them on the public’s frustration over the state government’s alleged failure to tackle insecurity.

Aziegbemi sympathized with the families of the victims, stating that the Okpebholo administration had failed to uphold the rule of law, which has led to a surge in violence and lawlessness.

“With seven people burnt alive in one day and over 100 killed in the last few months, Edo is experiencing a crisis far worse than what led to a state of emergency in Rivers,” he stated.

He also referenced Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who recently raised concerns at the Senate, warning that Edo is under siege due to the rising kidnappings, killings, and violent crimes.

The PDP insists that a state of emergency is necessary to restore law and order, calling on President Tinubu to take immediate action to protect residents from further violence.
