Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Urges Hope Amid Political Crisis

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on residents to remain hopeful despite the ongoing political turmoil, assuring them that the situation will ultimately strengthen them.

Fubara made this appeal while hosting Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), at his private residence in Port Harcourt during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Encouraging his supporters to stay steadfast and trust in God’s plan, he stated, “This season represents love, sharing, and sacrifice. You have come to share in our pain and have made great sacrifices through your prayers.”

He acknowledged the crisis but suggested it might be guided by higher forces. According to his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara reiterated his commitment to justice and equality, vowing to build a society free from oppression.

He assured Muslims that their pending requests would be addressed once the political situation stabilizes and emphasized patience, referencing the biblical story of Noah: “If God could be patient with Noah, allowing even the snail to enter the Ark, then patience is crucial in our struggle.”

Fubara also warned against those attempting to incite violence, urging his supporters to reject elements seeking to destabilize the state.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor, speaking on behalf of the Muslim Ummah in Rivers State, reaffirmed their support for Fubara, commending him for fostering religious inclusivity. He called on President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in Rivers State and restore the governor’s full authority.
