According to the caucus, the ruling serves as a warning to leaders who attempt to dominate democratic processes, emphasizing that power ultimately belongs to the people.
Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, leader of the LP caucus, described the verdict as a much-needed boost to revitalize the party, which has been plagued by leadership struggles. He commended the judiciary for delivering a decisive ruling that offers the party a fresh start.
Caretaker Committee to Convene Stakeholders’ Meeting
Ogene revealed that the National Caretaker Committee (NCC), led by former Minister of Finance Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, is expected to convene an all-inclusive stakeholders’ meeting next week to set the party on a new course.
He criticized Abure’s leadership style, blaming his refusal to heed internal warnings for the prolonged crisis. “In a brazen display of arrogance and naked power-mongering, Abure ignored these warnings, creating an environment for crisis to fester,” Ogene stated.
The lawmaker further noted that the leadership uncertainty had already cost the caucus six members, as many feared losing party tickets for future elections.
