Panic erupted in Idi-Araba, Lagos State, following a grenade explosion that killed a scavenger and left three others severely injured.
The incident occurred on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Taiwo Street, Idi-Araba. According to the Lagos State Police Command, the explosion was triggered when the scavenger attempted to cut open the grenade.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident, stating that officers from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit in Ikeja were deployed immediately after a distress call was received around 1:30 p.m.
Investigation Underway as Authorities Urge Caution
The deceased’s body has been taken to a public morgue for autopsy, while the injured victims were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Hundeyin urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activities to authorities to prevent similar tragedies.
