President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Dozie family, the business community, and all Nigerians following the passing of Chief (Dr.) Pascal Gabriel Dozie, a pioneering banker and entrepreneur, at age 85.
As founder of the defunct Diamond Bank (now part of Access Bank) and pioneer Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Dozie played a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s banking and telecommunications sectors.
Beyond business, he held key positions, including:
Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria
President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange
Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group
In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Dozie as “a rare breed business leader whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering efforts laid a foundation upon which many continue to build.”
The President prayed for the peaceful repose of Dozie’s soul and urged the Nigerian private sector to uphold his legacy of integrity, innovation, and nation-building.
