Kaduna Governor Approves N3.8 Billion for Pensioners

Chief Press Secretary Ibraheem Musa confirmed the governor’s directive, emphasizing that it was made on compassionate grounds following numerous appeals from pensioners and families of deceased civil servants struggling due to the ongoing verification process.

While reaffirming the importance of the verification exercise in eliminating ghost pensioners and safeguarding the state’s finances, Governor Sani ordered the immediate commencement of payments to genuine pensioners. He assured them of his continued commitment to their welfare.

“The senior citizens of Kaduna State have dedicated their lives to public service and deserve all necessary support for a dignified retirement,” Sani stated, promising a swift conclusion to the verification to prevent further delays in pension payments.

Since assuming office in May 2023, Governor Sani has reportedly paid out N6.6 billion in gratuities, death benefits, and accrued pension rights, demonstrating his administration’s focus on pensioners’ well-being.

The governor reiterated that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring a transparent and efficient pension system, allowing retired workers to receive their entitlements without unnecessary delays.
