Abia State Partners German Firm To Establish Treated Mosquito Net Factory, Boost Economic Development

The Abia State Government and a German firm have unveiled plans to set up a treated mosquito net factory in the state, alongside collaborations in other key economic sectors.

Governor Alex Otti and a German delegation led by the Consul General to Nigeria, Weert Borner, discussed the partnership during a meeting in Umuahia, the state capital.

Governor Otti assured the delegation that Abia’s economic potential and business-friendly environment make it one of Nigeria’s prime investment destinations.

“We are ready to support investors by providing land, infrastructure, and policy incentives to ensure their success. Our focus is on partnerships, not dependency on grants,” Otti stated.

He instructed the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Chaka Chukwumereije, to allocate land for the proposed factory, while commending the German delegation for their interest in Abia.

In response, Borner highlighted sectors of interest for German firms, including agriculture, environmental sustainability, healthcare, waste management, renewable energy, vocational training, and digital transformation.

He also praised Governor Otti’s commitment to good governance and economic growth, expressing optimism about fostering stronger economic ties between German companies and Abia State.
