Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, officially assumed office on Thursday as the Director of Public Relations and Information.
Ejodame took over from AVM Olusola Akinboyewa, who was redeployed to the Defence Headquarters as Director of Civil Relations. In his maiden remarks, Ejodame called for media support to effectively carry out his duties and pledged to maintain an open-door policy. He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Air Staff for entrusting him with the role and vowed to give his best.
“As I admire your commitment in the way you work, I solicit your support to work together, and by the grace of God, we will definitely come up with some impactful works,” he stated.
A seasoned officer, Air Commodore Ejodame brings extensive experience in logistics, strategic planning, and defence management. He is a member of the 45th Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy and holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Logistics, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Management Studies from the University of Sheffield, UK.
His professional career includes high-level military and strategic training, with certifications from institutions in Kenya, Portugal, and Nigeria. He has served in critical roles such as Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, and the National Defence College, Abuja.
Additionally, he was the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, and the Director of Procurement at the same institution. His diplomatic experience includes serving as Nigeria’s Defence Adviser at the High Commission in Malaysia, with accreditation to nine other countries.
Ejodame is a distinguished scholar and public relations professional, holding memberships in the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He is also a Fellow of the Air Force War College, National Defence College, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, outgoing spokesman AVM Akinboyewa expressed gratitude to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, for the opportunity to serve. He highlighted the importance of strategic communication in advancing NAF’s objectives and thanked the media for their role in showcasing the Air Force’s efforts.
“I’m glad that I have made some new friends, and I look forward to continuing to engage with you in my new role as the Director of Civil Relations at Defence Headquarters,” he said.
