The All Progressives Congress (APC) has started screening aspirants for its April 5 primary election ahead of the November 8 Anambra State governorship polls.
On the first day of screening, the committee assessed Paul Chukwuma, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, and Nicholas Ukachukwu. Other aspirants, including Chukwuma Umeoji, Onunkwo Johnbisco Obinna, Valentine Ozigbo, and Edozie Madu, will be screened today.
The screening committee, chaired by former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, was inaugurated by APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who urged members to ensure fairness and avoid decisions that could lead to legal disputes.
“We have confidence in you to do justice in what you are assigned to do. Ensure that you don’t leave gaps that could lead to litigations within or outside the party,” Ganduje stated.
Speaking after his screening, Paul Chukwuma, a former APC National Auditor, expressed confidence in his chances, saying his long-standing contributions to the party positioned him as the frontrunner. “I have built this platform over the years, and I believe the delegates will nominate me to fly the party’s flag,” he said.
He also emphasized the need for party unity, stating that his fellow aspirants had been consulting him due to his seniority in the party. “We have a good relationship as colleagues, and at the end of the day, we will work together to bring positive change to Anambra State,” Chukwuma added.
