Senator Usman Jibril Wowo, chairman of the Unity and Reconciliation Committee (URC) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on party members to set aside their differences and work towards unity ahead of the upcoming elections.
Speaking during a visit to the Muslim community to mark the end of Ramadan and the Sallah celebration, Wowo urged members to use the party’s internal reconciliation mechanisms to resolve disputes. He emphasized that party unity is crucial for future success.
“Let us come together and talk about these differences and forge a united headway towards a bigger APC in the future. We must know that the area council elections are just around the corner,” he stated.
The former senator also highlighted the parallel observance of Lent by Christians, stressing that faith and devotion should inspire understanding and forgiveness among individuals. He encouraged Nigerians to approach conflict resolution with open minds, fostering peace and cooperation.
Wowo acknowledged that the party’s recent disappointing performance in the area council elections made reconciliation even more urgent. He called on all aggrieved members to communicate openly to resolve conflicts, ensuring a stronger and more united APC.
He concluded by reaffirming that the URC operates under the APC constitution, with the duty of promoting reconciliation and fostering unity among members. He stressed that disputes are natural but can be settled through dialogue, ensuring the party remains strong and united.
