APC, PDP Supporters Clash Over LG Control

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed on Monday as they stormed local government secretariats across Osun State in a bid to take over administration.

The invasion, which included armed hoodlums, led to violent confrontations in several local governments, with deadly weapons such as guns, cutlasses, and knives freely used.

Tensions flared after Governor Ademola Adeleke warned President Bola Tinubu on Sunday to caution Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, against allegedly instigating violence in the state.

The crisis stems from the February 10 Court of Appeal ruling, which the APC claims reinstates sacked council officials elected under Oyetola’s administration. The party insists on enforcing the verdict despite opposition from the PDP-led state government.

Local government areas remain on high alert as political tensions escalate, with security forces attempting to restore order.

The situation highlights deep political divisions in Osun State, with both parties refusing to back down in the fight for local government control.
