Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, disclosed this during a special Eid-el-Fitr luncheon hosted by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede. The event was held at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Faskari, Katsina State.
Represented by Major General AK Ibrahim, the GOC praised the troops for their bravery and dedication, noting that recent operations had severely weakened criminal elements in the region.
“In the first quarter of 2025, we successfully neutralized several high-profile bandit leaders and their followers while dismantling their strongholds. These achievements are a testament to your sacrifice and commitment,” he stated.
While celebrating the victories, he honored the sacrifices of fallen and wounded soldiers, urging troops to stay vigilant as the Army remains committed to providing necessary support, including new equipment and welfare packages.
Major General Ibrahim, speaking on behalf of the COAS, emphasized the importance of upholding the Army’s core values, including dedication and sacrifice.
Brigadier General B.O. Omopariola, Commandant of the 17 Brigade, Katsina, expressed gratitude for the COAS’s support and acknowledged the contributions of the Katsina State Government in the ongoing fight against banditry.
The Eid-el-Fitr event, aimed at boosting troop morale, featured prayers, goodwill messages, and a communal feast.
