Army Pushes Smart Tech for Better Warfare

Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has emphasized the importance of smart technology in improving military operations and reducing unintended casualties. He made this known at a seminar on digital transformation and innovation in the Nigerian Army.

Represented by Major General Adeleke Ayanuga, Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare unit, Oluyede highlighted the role of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in modern warfare. The event was organized by the Army Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation.

He noted that advancements in smart munitions have helped minimize collateral damage, while infrared technology has improved night-time combat capabilities. These innovations, he said, are shaping the future of military engagements worldwide.

The Army is gradually shifting from traditional combat methods to digital-driven strategies. This transition, Oluyede explained, is aimed at making Nigerian forces more effective in joint and multi-agency operations.

He stressed that adopting cutting-edge technology would strengthen national security and position the Nigerian Army as a key player in global military advancements.

The seminar provided a platform for discussions on how technology could enhance operational efficiency and improve coordination among security agencies.
