Youths under the banner of Say No To Violence in Ebiraland (SNTVE) have strongly condemned the armed invasion of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family home in Ihima village, Kogi State. The senator, who is currently suspended, represents Kogi Central. The group described the incident as an attempt to create unrest and instill fear in the region.
In a public statement released on Thursday, SNTVE called on the Inspector General of Police and top security agencies to act swiftly. “We are calling on the Inspector General of Police and heads of security agencies to leave no stone unturned in unraveling those responsible for this criminal act. Justice must be served to restore confidence in our security system,” said Hon. Abdulrazak O. Mamman, the group’s spokesperson.
The group didn’t mince words, labeling the attack as a threat not just to the senator but also to Nigeria’s fragile democracy. “This brazen act of violence is an alarming indication of the growing insecurity in our nation. It is a direct threat to the life of Senator Natasha, her family, and the democratic values we all hold dear,” the group declared.
SNTVE went on to praise Senator Natasha for staying resilient in the face of threats and intimidation. “We commend Senator Natasha for her consistent display of bravery and strong will to stand by the truth, even in the face of escalating challenges. We urge her to remain focused and undeterred,” the statement added.
Backing their words with action, the group reiterated that the people of Ebiraland are standing firmly with her. They also demanded immediate intervention by the federal government to strengthen security around her home and protect her family from future attacks.
“We appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in condemning this heinous act and demanding immediate action to prevent a recurrence. The stability of our democracy depends on the protection of voices that speak truth to power,” they concluded. The attack has since sparked widespread reactions across Kogi and beyond.
