Barcelona Wins Appeal, Olmo & Víctor Stay

Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor can continue playing for Barcelona until the end of the season, despite LaLiga’s objections.

The duo had been given temporary registrations in January while Barcelona appealed against LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation’s (RFEF) decision to revoke them. However, LaLiga announced plans to appeal the CSD ruling.

LaLiga argues that Barcelona missed the December 31 deadline to prove compliance with financial regulations and has never had the budget space to register Olmo and Víctor under their league-imposed spending limits.

The CSD, however, stated that the players have the right to work, and the LaLiga-RFEF committee did not have jurisdiction to revoke their registrations, making their decision invalid. As a result, Olmo and Víctor’s registrations have been extended until June 30.

The controversy began earlier this year when Barcelona failed to meet LaLiga’s financial requirements in time. Initially, the players were temporarily registered because they replaced long-term injured Andreas Christensen.

On January 3, LaLiga confirmed that Barcelona’s €100 million sale of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou brought them back within financial compliance. However, the LaLiga-RFEF commission still ruled that the deadline to renew Olmo and Víctor’s registration had passed.
