By Karim Benzema has opened up about why he left Real Madrid for Saudi Arabia, saying he wanted to leave the Spanish club at the very top of his game.
Benzema, who ended his legendary spell at Madrid in the summer of 2023, said leaving at the right time was important to him.
The French star also revealed another major reason for his decision — his desire to never play against Real Madrid for the rest of his career.
“For me, Real Madrid is special. I didn’t want to face them, no matter what,” Benzema said.
Benzema’s move to Al Ittihad marked the end of a glittering career in LaLiga, where he won multiple trophies, including five Champions League titles.
Despite the change of scenery, the striker insists his love for Madrid will never fade, calling it “the club of my life.”
