Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his strong bond with President Bola Tinubu, extending his heartfelt congratulations on Tinubu’s birthday during a telephone call on Friday.
In a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari expressed his best wishes for Tinubu’s long life, good health, and successful leadership. He emphasized the importance of praying for national leaders, stating, “When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation.”
Buhari acknowledged the crucial role Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders played in shaping the party’s success. He credited Tinubu’s strategic leadership for his own rise to the presidency and for securing another APC-led administration.
“The history of Nigeria will not be complete without recognizing Tinubu’s contributions as a party stalwart, entrepreneur, activist, and a serial winner of democratic elections,” Buhari said. “I am truly proud of my association with the Asiwaju.”
Reflecting on the APC’s victory in 2015, Buhari noted that the party’s mandate was to create opportunities for the poor and build a better Nigeria. He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s administration is continuing this mission.
Buhari also extended Ramadan and Sallah wishes to Tinubu, his family, and the entire nation, praying for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
