An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on Monday struck out a suit challenging the appointment of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, citing lack of jurisdiction.
Justice K.A. Adedokun ruled that the four claimants from the Akingbola family lacked the locus standi to initiate the case. He further noted that the failure to include Surulere Local Government—the authority responsible for the selection and approval process—as a defendant rendered the suit incompetent.
The claimants had contested the legitimacy of Oba Alao’s selection and approval, but the court maintained it could not entertain the matter under the circumstances presented.
