Dangote: Amosun Demolished My Cement Plant Twice

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has alleged that former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, demolished his proposed cement plant in Itori twice. Dangote made this revelation in a viral video posted on social media on Monday.

Speaking alongside Ogun State’s current governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Dangote praised Abiodun for supporting the project’s revival. “That factory was demolished twice. We started, Governor Amosun demolished it. The second time, we started again, he demolished not only the factory, including the fencing, so we left,” he stated.

Dangote, however, did not disclose the reasons behind Amosun’s actions. He noted that it was Governor Abiodun’s intervention that encouraged him to restart the project, which is now back on track.

The cement plant, upon completion, is expected to increase Dangote Cement’s local production capacity to 41.25 million tons per annum and boost Nigeria’s total cement output to 57.6 million tons per annum. This expansion is also aimed at enhancing cement exports and increasing foreign exchange inflows.

Beyond production, Dangote emphasized that the plant will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs while attracting businesses to the Itori area. He highlighted that the project aligns with Dangote Group’s commitment to local manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.

As of the time of this report, former Governor Amosun has not responded to Dangote’s allegations.
