The Department of State Security (DSS) has arrested two key suspects linked to the killing of 16 Nigerians of Northern origin in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The arrests, made in Uromi following credible intelligence, come as security agencies continue their hunt for other suspects involved in the tragic incident.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had earlier revealed during a condolence visit to Kano State that 14 other suspects had already been apprehended and were set to be transferred to Abuja for further interrogation.
During his visit, the governor assured families of the victims that justice would be served, and those responsible for the killings would face the full weight of the law. He also promised that the affected families would receive adequate compensation.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening by the Edo State governor’s media office, it was confirmed that the two newly arrested suspects have been moved to Abuja for further investigation and prosecution.
Security agencies remain on high alert as efforts to track down other perpetrators continue.
