Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have been placed in Group D of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket alongside Mozambique and Rwanda, as they begin their quest for a seventh continental title.
The draw was announced ahead of the tournament scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from July 26 to August 3, with all games set to hold at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan.
D’Tigress, the reigning champions, head into the competition with strong momentum following their historic quarter-final run at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Host nation Côte d’Ivoire will battle it out in a challenging Group A featuring Angola and Egypt, while Group B includes Mali, Cameroon, and South Sudan. Group C is made up of Senegal, Uganda, and Guinea.
The Nigerian ladies are eyeing a record-extending seventh AfroBasket title, having dominated the tournament in recent years with their fast-paced and physical style of play.
Fans across the continent will be watching closely to see if D’Tigress can defend their crown and make another statement on the African basketball scene.
