Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleging over-voting in the 2023 governorship election. Speaking after a Tribunal session in Benin City on Monday, Idahosa criticized the PDP for failing to verify facts before filing the petition.
Idahosa clarified that results from areas affected by over-voting, such as Unit 4, Ward 7 in Usen, were already canceled as required by law. He emphasized that these canceled results were never included in the final tally, making the PDP’s claims irrelevant.
The APC witness confirmed in court that canceled results were not computed. So, why is the PDP challenging results that don’t even exist? It shows they don’t understand the electoral process, Idahosa stated.
The deputy governor’s remarks highlight the PDP’s lack of evidence and understanding of the election process, further questioning the validity of their petition.
