Edo Governor Marks 100 Days in Office

Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has marked his 100 days in office, highlighting efforts to build a homegrown economy free from reliance on external consultants.

The celebration, held at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, was attended by top political figures, including APC National Chairman Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, former Governor Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, and several state lawmakers and traditional rulers. The event caused heavy traffic congestion along Airport Road and nearby streets.

In his speech, Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s commitment to security and governance reforms, revealing that 3,500 illegal arms had been recovered from the restructured Edo State Security Corps. Additionally, 75 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 50 motorcycles were procured to boost law enforcement operations.

To combat cultism and kidnapping, the governor amended the state’s Anti-Cultism and Anti-Kidnapping law, imposing stiffer penalties, which he credited for a noticeable reduction in cult-related violence.

He reiterated his vision of ensuring Edo’s economy is driven by local expertise and resources, positioning the state for sustainable development.

As his administration progresses, Okpebholo pledged to continue prioritizing security, infrastructure, and economic empowerment for the people of Edo State.
