Emzor Pharmaceutical Industries Limited has restated its long-standing dedication to the fight against malaria, aligning with this year’s World Malaria Day theme, “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.”
Speaking in Lagos, Mr. Kunle Faloye, Head of Marketing and Strategy at Emzor, said the company has remained “at the forefront of malaria prevention and treatment,” producing affordable, high-quality antimalarial medications for millions across Africa.
“Our dedication is reflected in our investment in research, development, and a wide-reaching distribution network which have played a crucial role in reducing the malaria burden,” Faloye stated.
To mark World Malaria Day 2025, Emzor launched a series of community outreach activities including a health walk, free medical screenings, and distribution of antimalarial drugs to vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and children under five.
The company currently produces over 20 antimalarial SKUs, including popular treatments like Maldox (Sulfadoxine/Pyrimethamine), Lokmal (Artemether/Lumefantrine), and Piramal TS (Dihydroartemisinin/Piperaquine) in various dosage forms.
As part of its commitment, Emzor has invested in a multimillion-dollar Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) plant at its Pharmaceutical Campus in Sagamu, Ogun State, aimed at strengthening local production and reducing reliance on imports.
“This strategic investment boosts Nigeria’s capacity to produce antimalarial APIs locally, thereby improving access to quality treatments,” said Faloye.
“It will help lower costs, reduce forex demand, and support GDP growth.”
The Sagamu facility will initially produce Artemether, Lumefantrine, Sulfadoxine, and Pyrimethamine—key components in WHO-recommended malaria treatments and chemoprevention therapies.
Board Chairman Mr. Emeka Okoli emphasized the regional impact of the initiative:
“With about 95% of malaria cases and 96% of malaria deaths occurring in Africa, the solutions must largely come from the continent. Our API project is part of that homegrown solution.”
Emzor also continues to partner with governments, NGOs, and local communities to drive awareness, early diagnosis, and subsidized treatments, reaffirming its mission to make “unlimited wellness” a reality for all.
