Ex-Kaduna Governor El-Rufai Announces Aide’s Release

Nasir El-Rufai, has announced the release of his former Chief of Staff, Bashir Saidu, after 50 days in detention.

El-Rufai shared the news on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday evening, describing Saidu’s imprisonment as “unjustified.”

Saidu, who also served as Commissioner of Finance and Local Government Affairs, was detained for undisclosed reasons before finally regaining his freedom.

The former governor praised Saidu as a grassroots politician and a highly competent technocrat with a long history of public service.

“After 50 days of abduction and unjustified incarceration, Bashir Saidu is now free and at home,” El-Rufai stated, recalling their 53-year friendship dating back to their days at Barewa College.

Saidu has been a key figure in Kaduna politics, influencing progressive movements from the APP and ANPP to the CPC and APC.
