Festus Keyamo, announced the approval after Monday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Keyamo, the approval is part of a directive from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), which requires all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to insure vital government properties.
He added that beyond asset protection, the insurance coverage is a crucial step for Nigeria’s airports to meet certification standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
The move is expected to boost safety, attract more international partnerships, and enhance Nigeria’s standing in the global aviation community.
With this approval, the government aims to ensure better risk management across the aviation sector, safeguarding both infrastructure and personnel in the long run.
