Federal government has vowed to accelerate the restoration of infrastructure destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast, using special interventions from the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Speaking during a project inspection in Maiduguri, Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmodu, assured that all ongoing NEDC projects in Borno and surrounding states would be completed swiftly.
The government also emphasized its commitment to education, aiming to reduce the out-of-school crisis and address the root causes of insurgency in the region.
During his visit to Command Secondary School Auno, where NEDC sponsors 400 orphans with scholarships, feeding, and accommodation, Ahmodu directed the commission to provide all necessary facilities for the school’s smooth operation.
He reiterated that rebuilding critical infrastructure, including schools, roads, and healthcare centers, remains a top priority in the region’s recovery efforts.
The initiative aligns with the broader strategy to restore stability, improve living conditions, and prevent further extremism in the Northeast.
