Senator Remi Tinubu, has urged citizens, especially women, to speak up and seek medical assistance when facing health challenges. She made the call while receiving a delegation from the National Taskforce on Cervical Cancer Elimination, led by the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako.
“No one chooses an ailment for themselves, so there is no need to be ashamed to seek help,” Tinubu stated, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment in the fight against cancer.
Reaffirming her commitment to healthcare, the First Lady announced a ₦1 billion donation from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to the National Cancer Fund to support cervical cancer prevention and treatment.
The Minister of State for Health, Dr. Salako, praised Tinubu for championing the introduction of the HPV vaccine into Nigeria’s routine immunization program. Since its rollout, over 12 million girls aged 9-13 have been vaccinated, with plans to immunize another six million girls this year.
