Four Arraigned in Ilorin for Allegedly Impersonating Lawyer in Land Fraud Case

Four men have been arraigned before an Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly impersonating a legal practitioner, Barrister Imam Fulani, to prepare fraudulent land documents.

The accused—Ojo Ibrahim, Shuaibu Eleke, Abdulrauf Sodiq, and Daudu Teslim—were brought to court following a petition dated April 17, 2025, by the secretary of the Ilorin branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Olayinka Jimoh.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects were found in possession of forged land agreements falsely attributed to Barr. Fulani. Upon contact, the lawyer denied any involvement or knowledge of the documents.

“Police investigations revealed that the suspects criminally conspired and impersonated a lawyer to prepare fraudulent land instruments,” the FIR stated, referencing Section 4 of the Land Instrument (Preparation) Law of Kwara State, which reserves the preparation of such documents for licensed legal professionals.

Justice Sunday Adeniyi granted bail to two of the accused while ordering the remand of the other two at the Oke Kura Correctional Facility. The case has been adjourned to May 5, 2025, for further mention.
