FRSC Launches Free Vehicle Safety Checks

The Kwara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has announced plans to conduct free vehicle safety checks as part of efforts to reduce auto accidents in the state. The initiative aims to ensure that vehicles on Kwara roads are roadworthy and safe for travel.

According to a statement by FRSC’s Head of Education and Information Unit, Olayinka Basambo, the exercise will take place from March 17 to 20, 2025. He emphasized that the checks will be conducted at motor parks, ministries, fleet operators’ offices, and various roads across the state.

“The public is hereby notified and urged to cooperate with the FRSC team as the exercise is completely free and devoid of any punitive measure,” the statement read. Basambo also noted that personnel have been deployed to advise vehicle owners on necessary corrections.

FRSC’s Sector Commander, Corps Commander Muftau A. Irekeola, appreciated motorists who adhere to traffic regulations and encouraged others to take advantage of the free checks to improve their vehicle conditions.

Commercial drivers and private car owners welcomed the initiative, expressing support for the program. Malam Ganiyu Ayegbami, a commercial driver, described the exercise as a “welcome development” that will encourage vehicle owners to prioritize road safety.

Similarly, private car owner Malam Muhammad Rabiu praised the FRSC for the initiative, noting that preventing road accidents starts with ensuring vehicles are in proper condition.
