Fulani Youths Clash Over Girlfriend in FCT

A violent clash erupted between Fulani youths in the Katampe area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over a dispute involving a girlfriend during the ongoing Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who shared details on X (formerly Twitter), the altercation left two young men injured and hospitalized.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fight broke out around 7:30 p.m. and escalated quickly, with both parties wielding dangerous weapons, causing panic among residents.

Police patrol teams responded to a distress call and managed to restore order, but the youths involved fled into the nearby bushes before arrests could be made.

The injured victims, identified as Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed from Ruga Katampe, were taken to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for medical treatment.

Authorities noted that similar violent incidents have occurred during previous Eid celebrations, prompting a meeting with Fulani community leaders on April 1 to address the recurring issue.
