Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Gombe United, have officially parted ways with their head coach, Bala Nkiyu. The club announced his departure in a statement released on Monday.
According to the statement, the decision to relieve Nkiyu of his duties was reached through mutual consent between the coach and the club’s management.
“The management of Gombe United FC wishes to notify the public that it has parted ways with its technical adviser, Bala Nkiyu, by mutual consent,” the club’s statement read.
The club also expressed gratitude to Nkiyu for his contributions to the team, popularly known as the Savannah Scorpions, during his time in charge.
While the reason for his dismissal was not explicitly stated, sources close to the club suggest it may be linked to the team’s underwhelming performance in recent matches.
Gombe United is expected to announce a new head coach soon, as the club aims to reposition itself for a stronger push in the ongoing NNL season.
