Hajj Group Urges CBN to Exempt 2025 Pilgrims from New BTA Policy

A faith-based civil society group, Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR), has called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to exempt 2025 Hajj pilgrims from its new rule requiring Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) to be accessed through ATM cards.

In a statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, IHR’s National Coordinator, Ibrahim Muhammad, warned that the policy could create serious challenges for pilgrims, leading to confusion and unnecessary hardship.

He urged the CBN to consider the unique nature of the Hajj pilgrimage and find a better solution that would not disrupt travel plans.
