The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Industrial Park in Kano has been looted and set on fire by hoodlums. This happened on Thursday, just days before its planned opening. The park was meant to support digital innovation and offer technical training to young Nigerians.
Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, condemned the attack, calling it a setback for the country’s efforts to build a skilled tech workforce and create job opportunities for the youth. He shared on social media that the park was set to host programs like the technical talent accelerator (3MTT) and a holiday workshop for secondary school students, which are now delayed.
The attack occurred during the #EndBadGovernance protests in Kano, highlighting the widespread dissatisfaction over the country’s challenges. Dr. Tijani expressed his disappointment over the destruction, saying millions of Naira were lost.
The NCC Industrial Park was intended to be a key hub for digital growth and skills development in Nigeria’s tech sector. The incident has delayed the planned programs aimed at empowering young people through education.
