If enacted, Ideato West will be officially added to the list of LGAs in Imo State, amending Part I of the First Schedule of the Constitution. The updated list will now include 28 LGAs, including existing ones like Aboh Mbaise, Ehime Mbano, Ideato North, and Orlu.
The motion received unanimous support from lawmakers. Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who presided over the session, put the bill to a voice vote, leading to its passage.
This move signifies a major step toward administrative expansion and local governance restructuring in Imo State. The bill will now advance to the next legislative stage for further scrutiny before potential enactment.
