IBB Ladies Golf Open 2025: Minister Champions Women’s Empowerment in Sports

The 26th IBB Ladies Amateur Golf Open teed off with a strong message of empowerment and unity, as Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to increasing women’s participation in sports and other key sectors.

With the theme “The Abuja Experience,” this year’s edition has drawn an impressive field of over 450 female golfers from Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, making it one of the most competitive and diverse tournaments in recent years.

Speaking at the tee-off ceremony, Sulaiman-Ibrahim stressed the importance of supporting women in all spheres, emphasizing that empowering women is essential for Nigeria’s overall progress.

“When women are healthy, the nation is healthy,” she declared, highlighting how golf and other sports contribute to physical well-being, mental strength, and social bonding.

The IBB Ladies Golf Open has grown into a premier event that not only celebrates female athleticism but also promotes networking and leadership among women in sports. The tournament continues to inspire more women to break barriers and excel in traditionally male-dominated fields.
