The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the petition to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central does not meet constitutional requirements.
In a brief statement on Thursday, the commission stated that the petition did not fulfill the conditions outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended).
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” INEC wrote on its X handle.
The commission further indicated that a detailed statement would be provided shortly to elaborate on the decision.
This development comes after the recall petition was filed against Akpoti-Uduaghan, but has now been dismissed due to the failure to meet the legal criteria for recall.
