The Taraba State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local hunters, has successfully rescued Israeli engineer Gil Itamar, who was kidnapped on Thursday in the Takum local government area.
Itamar, an employee of SCC company, was abducted by armed men in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP James Lashen, the police were alerted about the kidnapping at 10:30 am and acted quickly to launch a rescue operation.
At approximately 9:15 am on April 3, 2025, Itamar was kidnapped while being escorted by the military. Following the distress call from Alhaji Saidu, a staff member at SCC, the Takum Police Division, along with military personnel and local hunters, mobilized to the scene.
A swift and intense search-and-rescue operation led to the successful rescue of the victim at Kofai Ahmadu after a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers, who were forced to flee.
Itamar is currently receiving medical attention at SCC company’s medical facility in Takum. Meanwhile, security forces have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, with plans to bring them to justice.
