By Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo is on the verge of a recall to the Super Eagles as head coach Eric Chelle looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers.
A source told SCORENigeria that Aribo is “highly rated” by Chelle, who wants to reintegrate him into the national team setup.
Aribo has been included in the provisional squad for the qualifiers, signaling the coach’s intent to bring him back into the fold.
The 28-year-old made his Super Eagles debut in September 2019 and has since earned 34 caps, scoring two goals.
Despite his experience, his last appearance for Nigeria was in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final, where he played only four minutes as a late substitute.
