Journalist Alleges Threat to Life Over Land Dispute in Ebonyi

Anambra-based journalist and THISDAY Newspaper correspondent, David-Chyddy Eleke, has raised alarm over alleged threats to his life by Ikechukwu Nkumeh, an Ebonyi-born US citizen.

In a statement issued in Awka, Eleke called on Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Anthonia Uche-Anya, to prevent operatives of the anti-kidnapping squad and SWAT from being used to suppress his family in a land dispute involving Nkumeh and his brother, Friday Nkumeh.

According to Eleke, the Nkumeh brothers have allegedly been using security operatives to harass, arrest, and detain his family members since December 2024, forcing them to relinquish a portion of their ancestral land in Oshiri, Ebonyi State.

“They claim to be US citizens, but the biggest torment my family has suffered is knowing them,” Eleke stated.
