The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed a partial collapse of the national power grid, which occurred around 1:52 p.m. on Tuesday.
The collapse was triggered by a series of faults in power lines and generators, leading to instability in the system and affecting electricity supply in some parts of the country.
In a statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, the company explained that data from the National Control Centre in Osogbo, Osun State, showed that some parts of the grid were not affected.
“Engineers are working to restore power to areas affected by the disruption. As of 2:49 p.m., power supply has been restored to Abuja, and efforts are ongoing to reconnect other regions,” Mbah said.
The TCN apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured Nigerians that they are working to stabilize the grid as quickly as possible.
