Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly declared his membership of the Celestial Church of Christ, a white garment Christian denomination.
Though widely known as a devout Muslim, K1 revealed in an interview with Agbaletu TV on Wednesday that he has long identified with the church in his personal spiritual journey.
“I attend Celestial Church. I am a bonafide member of the Celestial Church. A proud one,” he stated. “In fact, I built a church. I sought different religions while trying to know God in both popular religions. There’s nowhere I didn’t try to find God.”
The 68-year-old Fuji icon said his decision stemmed from a sincere quest to understand God better.
Meanwhile, the Mayegun of Yorubaland also used the opportunity to express disappointment with fellow Fuji legend, General Kollington Ayinla, for failing to attend his late mother’s funeral.
“I am so angry with Alhaji Kollington because he never showed up to offer his condolences when I lost my mum,” K1 said.
Recalling how he supported Kollington during the burial of his own mother, K1 added, “I handled all the finances 100%. See how he paid me back. He said he called me and I didn’t pick. Am I not supposed to be angry?”
K1’s revelations have sparked conversations across social and religious circles, especially as he continues to bridge spiritual lines while maintaining his legacy in the Fuji music scene.
