Residents of Kaduna State are facing severe hardship as a strike by staff of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has plunged the capital city into a prolonged power outage. The blackout has disrupted social and economic activities, leaving many without access to basic amenities like water.
The strike, declared by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), is in protest of the sacking of 900 workers by KEDCO. The situation has worsened living conditions in Kaduna metropolis and surrounding areas, with residents calling for urgent intervention to resolve the crisis.
