Kaduna State to Upgrade 255 Health Clinics in Six Months for Better Healthcare Access

The Kaduna State government has unveiled plans to upgrade 255 health clinics across the state’s 255 political wards within the next six months. This initiative aims to improve healthcare services and move closer to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Danjuma Muhammed, the focal person for the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund in the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, shared the details during a two-day meeting organized by Save the Children International in Kaduna. He explained that the clinics will be upgraded to phase two standards, which include climate-resilient structures, at least 13 rooms, running water, adequate toilets, and staff accommodation.

So far, 185 clinics have already been equipped with solar systems, and funding has been secured to revitalize 143 more facilities within the next six weeks. The project, inspired by the National Assembly, reflects the state’s commitment to meeting recommended standards for primary healthcare and ensuring quality health services for all residents.
