The Kaduna State Government has announced plans to sponsor 175,752 candidates, including orphans, for various examinations in 2025. This is part of Governor Uba Sani’s efforts to support education and human capital development across the state.
The Director-General of the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQA), Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria, made this known during a quarterly press briefing held at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna. He revealed that 136,742 students were already sponsored for exams in 2024.
Prof. Zaria praised Governor Sani for prioritizing education, adding that the state has also secured an agreement with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to build the first-ever Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre in Northern Nigeria.
In addition to supporting public school students, the government has completed a full mapping of private schools in the state. According to Zaria, 3,622 private schools have now been identified and documented — far above the previous estimate of 1,800.
The KSSQA boss warned unregistered private schools to get registered immediately, or face enforcement action from the agency.
With these initiatives, the Kaduna State Government is positioning itself as a leader in promoting access to quality education, ensuring students across the state — regardless of background — have the opportunity to succeed.
