Kano Gives Contractors Five-Month Deadline

The Kano State Government has given contractors handling 5-kilometer road projects across all 44 local government areas a five-month deadline to finish their work. This directive is part of efforts to speed up infrastructure development across the state.

Comrade Nura Ma’aji Sumaila, the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation, delivered the message during an inspection visit to Warawa Local Government Area. He warned that the state will not tolerate unnecessary delays.

The inspection was part of a broader statewide tour aimed at checking the progress of these crucial road projects. The commissioner said the government wants to ensure taxpayers’ money is being properly used and projects are completed to standard.

In addition to Warawa, the commissioner and his team also visited Minjibir and Ungogo local governments to assess the level of work done so far. According to him, some projects are moving too slowly, and contractors need to step up their efforts.

A statement released by the Ministry of Public Procurement, Project Monitoring, and Evaluation stressed that contractors who fail to meet the deadline could face serious penalties. The ministry also promised regular monitoring visits until all projects are fully completed.

The state government urged local communities to cooperate with contractors and help protect the ongoing projects to ensure smooth and timely completion.
