The Katsina State Hisbah Board has ordered the immediate shutdown of all nightclub activities across the state, citing the need to uphold Islamic principles and moral values.
Hisbah Commander-General, Dr. Aminu Usman (Abu Ammar), announced the ban in a statement issued in Katsina on Wednesday.
He emphasized that nightclub owners must close their establishments to curb immoral practices, protect societal values, and address security concerns.
“The board warned that violators would face strict penalties,” Usman stated, adding that security agencies have been instructed to enforce full compliance with the order.
The directive aligns with Hisbah’s broader mission to regulate public morality in accordance with Islamic teachings in Katsina.
Residents have expressed mixed reactions to the ban, with some supporting the move while others raise concerns about its impact on businesses and nightlife.
