Lagos-Badagry Expressway to Be Ready by April

The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has announced that the ongoing rehabilitation and expansion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway into six lanes will be completed by April.

Speaking during an inspection tour on Thursday, Umahi confirmed that the 46km stretch, which serves as the first section of the ECOWAS Road to Seme Border and Abidjan, will be ready for inauguration in May.

He stated that President Bola Tinubu is expected to commission the project as part of activities marking his second year in office.

The minister also revealed that the contractor has so far received N50 billion out of the total N71 billion contract sum.

The Lagos-Badagry Expressway is a critical trade route, and its expansion is expected to ease traffic congestion and boost economic activities between Nigeria and neighboring West African countries.

Residents and motorists have welcomed the news, expressing hope that the project will be completed on schedule after years of delays.
