To mark Earth Day 2025, LG Electronics has joined forces with Nigeria’s top e-waste handler, Hinckley Recycling, in launching a major E-Waste Collection Drive. The move is part of a broader push to tackle climate change and protect Nigeria’s environment. The campaign also aligns with this year’s Earth Day theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.”
LG says the campaign is more than just about gadgets—it’s about action. “This initiative isn’t just about electronics—it’s about empowering people to be part of the climate solution,” stated Paul Mba, Corporate Marketing Manager at LG Nigeria. He emphasized how everyday electronics like phones, TVs, and fridges, when improperly disposed of, cause long-term harm to the planet.
The partnership is giving people a chance to start small, right from their homes. Many of the items people discard contain toxic materials that pollute soil, air, and water. But with proper recycling channels, those same materials can be safely processed or reused.
Adrian Clews, Managing Director of Hinckley Group, said the campaign is about sparking change. “We’re proud to collaborate with LG on this impactful Earth Day campaign,” he said, highlighting the importance of raising awareness and shifting behaviors, especially among the younger generation.
UNICEF Youth Champion Bharat Kumar Kundra also added his voice to the cause, saying, “Today’s young people aren’t just inheriting environmental challenges – they’re actively creating solutions.” He praised the partnership for tapping into youth energy and digital fluency, calling it a great example of corporate engagement done right.
Both organizations hope to turn the initiative into a long-term movement, powered by Nigerian youth. By connecting technology with environmental action, they believe the younger population can lead a national shift in how e-waste is handled.
