The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has urged the government to improve electricity supply beyond the current average of 4,000MW per day, warning that constant tariff hikes are crippling the manufacturing sector.
MAN’s Director-General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, criticized the proposed electricity tariff increase, stressing that power is a key factor in production costs and directly affects product prices. He argued that the 2013 privatization of the power sector has failed to deliver the expected improvements due to operators’ lack of technical and financial capacity.
Ajayi-Kadir emphasized that affordable and stable energy is essential for industrial growth and economic development, urging the government to address the challenges in the power sector.
